Diverse Kindergarten

OUR PHILOSOPHY

CMS is a Christian Montessori School. We believe that each child is unique and made in God's image. Each child comes to CMS with a different set of needs, backgrounds, and experiences. We are committed to providing a Christ-centered Montessori nurturing environment where children will know that they are created by God in His image and that they are loved by Him. We strive to show God's love through His Son, Jesus Christ, and the cross. Teachers exemplify God's love in tangible ways in the classroom.

OUR GOALS

We hope that through CMS’s Christ-centered Montessori education, children will grow into competent, peaceful, and self-disciplined leaders who:

  (1)  love the Lord with all their heart, with all their soul, with all    their mind, and with all their strength,

  (2) be respectful of themselves, others, and the environment,

  (3) be the future leaders who will promote peace worldwide,

  (4) represent our great hope for the future of humanity.

WHAT IS MONTESSORI?

The Montessori method is an educational approach developed by Dr. Montessori, based on her work with children with disabilities and in the Casa die Bambini. Combining theory and practice, the method encompassed the ideas, principles, techniques, and materials that inspire, inform, and guide all Montessori programs. Some key ideas include treating children with respect, acting as a guide and facilitation; prepare the environment to suit the Children's needs, providing materials and presentations appropriate to children's sensitive periods, using didactic learning materials, incorporating physical movement in all activities, giving children the opportunity to work repeatedly on tasks, encouraging them to correct mistakes independently, allowing them to work at their own pace and observe them to determine when they are ready to learn a new skill.

PREPARED ENVIRONMENT

Montessori classrooms are designed as Prepared Environments—intentional spaces that nurture children’s growth and independence. These environments are thoughtfully arranged with hands-on activities in Practical Life, Sensorial, Math, Language, and Culture, meeting the developmental needs of each child.

By encouraging exploration and discovery, the Prepared Environment inspires confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of learning. It’s more than just a classroom—it’s a carefully crafted world where children thrive and unlock their full potential.

CHARACTERISTICS OF MONTESSORI MATERIALS

Montessori Sensorial Education: Sharpening the Senses and Building Understanding

Dr. Maria Montessori’s Sensorial Education leverages children’s Sensitive Periods to refine their senses through hands-on experiences. By using Sensorial Materials, children explore abstract concepts like color, texture, and size in concrete, memorable ways. It is called Materialized Abstraction. This approach sharpens observational skills, enabling children to perceive subtle details, such as the many shades of green in a tree or the brightness of sunlight on leaves. Beyond learning, Sensorial Education provides children with a framework to classify and articulate their sensory experiences, laying the foundation for critical thinking and problem-solving. It mirrors God’s hands-on teaching style, making abstract ideas tangible and accessible.

Nurturing Peace Through Cosmic Education and GCGM Lessons

Dr. Maria Montessori’s vision of peace education emphasizes cultivating harmony within each child to create a peaceful society. Through Cosmic Education, children connect with nature, fostering an awareness of the interdependence of all life, which inspires respect and empathy. Complementing this, Grace, Courtesy, and Good Manners (GCGM) lessons teach children tangible social skills like respecting personal space, using kind language, and practicing good manners. These lessons, seamlessly woven into daily interactions, empower children to navigate relationships with empathy and grace.  Through small, mindful actions, Montessori education lays the foundation for a more harmonious world.
